My Tween Girl's Room Featured at Blogger Homes Today!

Hey y'all!  My daughter's tween room makeover is featured over at Blogger Homes today!  Woot!

I love it that when I told my daughter that her room was being featured on a web site she asked me if her room was clean - ha!  She's not the neatest person in the world, that's for sure!

Front Porch Chalkboard Sign {Update}

Remember my cute little DIY chalkboard easel I made last year?  

I finally updated it for my spring/summer front porch!

I planned to use my easy chalkboard lettering technique, however, when I got started I decided that it would be easiest to just freehand it because the letters were so small.

I found some cute little signs on Pinterest and based my design on those.

I love how it turned out!

Beautiful Blogger Rooms {Favorite Things Friday}

I was a late bloomer when it came to finding home and decorating blogs.  Honestly, I don't know how I didn't stumble on to them sooner. As fate would have it, about two and a half years ago I found my first home blog and fell in love.  I've been an avid browser ever since and have compiled a large list of favorite blogs (see my Blog list on my side bar for some of my top favs).

But, today, I'm focusing on particular rooms that I've found on these and other blogs that make my top 10 favorites list, and believe me, it was tough narrowing this down.  There are so many talented bloggers and decorators.  I am both green with envy and inspired to do more in my own home each time I visit their beautiful web sites.

Kicking Off Favorite Finds Friday {Recent Shopping Scores}

It's Friday and I've decided that from now on I'm going to start posting some of my favorite things every Friday just for fun.  I might share favorite shopping finds, cool projects I've seen online, a favorite moment I experienced during the week...you get the idea.  

Today, I'm sharing some of my recent shopping finds -- some that were total bargains, and others that were just love at first sight.

DIY Ribbon Lamp Shade

Well, things have been mighty crazy around here.  I've been bitten by the spring organizing and purging bug and, at the same time, I've been tackling some random DIY projects.  All this while my husband was out of town for 2 weeks on business.  

For some reason, I go in to overdrive when he's away and so does our family.  My daughter had some dental trauma and an almost-broken collar bone and my dogs killed two ducklings and, this morning, a bunny.  They like to leave me these "gifts" when he's gone.  Isn't that sweet?!  Not!  Thank goodness my husband is back home!  Just in time to fix the garage door that refused to close!  But, I'm rambling.

In the next few days, I'll be showing you the results of all my home improvement efforts.  Today, I'm showing you a lamp shade makeover my daughter and I did and it only took me three paragraphs to get to today's topic!  Ha!

The truth is, "we" didn't really do it together so much as she took a few pictures and told me which color pattern she wanted.  The lamp is for her tween room we recently updated.

Kitchen Organization Show-off

I've been bitten by the spring cleaning bug.  For the last several days, I've been holed away cleaning, throwing away and organizing my kitchen.  So, I thought I would give you a peak inside my drawers and cabinets because I'm so proud of them!

It started with my closet organization project.  Then I saw this post at For the Love of a House and put off a few other areas of my home (like the attic) and started digging in my kitchen drawers.  Before I knew it, I was knee deep in a kitchen re-org.

The worst part of my kitchen was my spice cabinet (next is my pantry), and I'm thrilled with my new and improved spice cabinet!
